New York University School of Law students and Summer Living in New York City (non-NYU School of Law students) applicants may request to cancel their housing applications and assignments online. The licensee is responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period. Applicants should refer to the appropriate License for detailed information on the applicable cancellation policies.

Cancellation Requests for NYU School of Law Students

Entering Student Cancellation Requests

To cancel a 2018-19 academic year housing application or assignment, entering students must log into the NYU Housing Portal.

(A) No cancellation will be permitted once you have checked in, and you will be responsible for the full License period.
(B) To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services (2) two business days from the date of your assignment notification.
(C) If you cancel (2) two business days from the date of your assignment notification, you will be responsible for the full license period.
(E) Cancellation fees will be added to your NYU Bursar account, and your account will be placed in arrears until the charge is paid.
(F) All cancellations occurring after the cancellation deadlines will be subject to the provisions indicated in your initial assignment letter.

Returning Student Academic Year Cancellation Requests

To cancel a 2018-19 academic year housing application or assignment, returning students must log into the NYU Housing Portal.

(A) No cancellation will be permitted once you have checked in, and you will be responsible for the full License period.
(B) To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services by 5:00 p.m. (EST) March 15, 2018, or the date indicated in your initial assignment letter.
(C) If you cancel after 5:00 p.m. (EST) March 15, 2018 and prior to 5:00 p.m. (EST) May 15, 2018, you will be assessed a $1,500 late cancellation fee.
(D) If you cancel after May 15, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. (EST), you will be responsible for the full license period.
(E) Cancellation fees will be added to your NYU Bursar account, and your account will be placed in arrears until the charge is paid.
(F) All cancellations occurring after the cancellation deadlines will be subject to the provisions indicated in your initial assignment letter.

Summer SNYU 2018 Cancellation Requests

To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services by (2) two business days from the initial date of the assignment notification. Unless your written request to cancel all or part of your assignment is received and approved by the date indicated in your initial assignment letter, this License binds you to all terms for the full license period. 

To cancel a summer 2018 housing application or assignment, spring 2018 graduates and returning students must cancel via the NYU Housing Portal (subject to approval).

Spring 2019 Cancellation Requests

Residents with a 2017-18 Academic Year Housing Assignment are assigned for the full academic year license period. After the applicable cancellation deadlines, as indicated in the 2017-18 Housing Application and License, the licensee is responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period.

Applicants for the Spring only Semester housing assignment must cancel via the NYU Housing Portal by no later than 12:00 noon (EST) on December 4, 2017, to be without penalty. Those assigned after December 4, 2017, have 48 hours after notification to cancel without penalty.

 

Summer Living in New York City Cancellation Requests

Cancellation Requests

(A) To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services by (2) two business days from the initial date of the assignment notification. 

(B) If you cancel after (2) two business days from the initial date of the assignment notification, you will forfeit the $1000.00 initial deposit.

(C) 2018 Summer Living in New York City applicants must submit the Summer Cancellation Request Form for approval.

(D) If you do not check in within one week after your license period begins and have not given written notice of your late arrival to the Department of Residence Services, your housing reservation and license will be cancelled and you will forfeit the $1000.00 initial deposit.

(E) The Department of Residence Services may terminate this license and hold you responsible for all cost, including collection agency and legal fees, incurred by NYU in collecting past due payments owed under this license.

Note:

If you never occupy or you vacate your assigned space without submitting a written cancellation request, or if your cancellation request is not approved, the License will not be cancelled and you will continue to be responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period.

Waitlisted applicants who do not have a housing assignment may cancel their housing application and be refunded their initial payment at any time.
